I'm BACK! :)

Hi! I am really sorry for my super long absence! As I think I mentioned, I was at my grandparents house. While we were there, we worked. :) I dusted, spread mulch, and was the official "what are we going to have for dinner" idea comer-upper {yeah....not a very technical name..} :)
                                                    It was da bomb. {hey, I entertain easily..}
Also, we went to the mall. I don't know how to communicate to you how going to a mall just fills me with dread.
~It's loud.
~There are waaay to many people than my comfort zone allows.
~There's always the possibility of meeting up with people I used to know...from 2nd grade :P I know, for some of you that would be a cause for celebration. But for me...I just find it slightly awkward. :P

Keeping all these things in mind, {okay maybe not the last one...it doesn't really have anything to do with what I'm about to tell you}read my...ahh... experience. :)

Okay, so we were looking for board shorts for me. {quick back story  info! I'm really modest when it comes to bathing suits. So I always wear board shorts over my bating suit [sometimes even a t-shirt, much to my mother's chagrin.] The only board shorts I will wear, though, are the ones that come to my knees. I even tried out guy's swimsuits, but they come mid-calf on my leg and are really baggy. And not to mention ugly. Wait, why did I say "not to mention"? That phrase confuses me. If it's not to mention, why mention it?!?! Ehh, whatever ;)} We checked all over the place {well, not all over...we skipped the lingerie stores, I'm sure it would have made my brother a bit uncomfortable} ;) We finally came to an un-named store with a really cool entrance. I didn't want to go in...it was different from my usual Macy's and Old Navy. But my mom practically dragged me in.

The moment we ducked through the door {I really am serious, the entry must've been made with 6 year olds in mind} I knew it was Hollister.  If all the seagull like silhouettes didn't tip me off, it was the twilight-like darkness and blaring music. As we weaved in between randomly placed tables and what seemed like 100s {probably only 30...} of teens, I inwardly cringed at the two biggest things I dislike about going to the mall crammed in just one store.  That's when I backed up into a girl about my age. She probably apologised about five times. O_O {all the while I was thinking "No, I'm sorry! It was my fault, you're okay!" but, struck by my annnoyingly inconvenient shyness, I just stood there. I gave her a kinda half-hearted smile and my mom apologized for me...thanks mom :) And to the girl I mowed over: Sorry for my clumsiness...and thanks for apologizing even though it wasn't your fault, that was nice of you. :)}

When we got back to my brothers and grandma sitting outside, I was almost hyper-ventilating. I declared to anybody would listen, "I'm never going back in there. Ever." to which my mom replied, "Oh, my dear, sheltered daughter..."

Bahahaha! Now you all know how sheltered I really am :) But I like it that way.

So, this month I probably won't be blogging too much more, but I'll get back to regular blogging in May...I'm kinda liking this break! :)

Sorry for not commenting on you guy's  people's blogs, but I'll try to get updated! :)

  1. I usually enjoy shopping since it seems like everybody else shops for me. We decided to go shopping last Saturday. We spent sooo much time that I got such a huge headaches ( I think I even had a small fever) after that day I don't think I will look at shopping the same.

    1. Oh, that's terrible! I'm not all that into clothing shopping because that usually means I have to try tons of stuff on :P I do enjoy just walking around a store looking :) And, of course, when there are books, I'm ecstatic ;)

    2. Trying clothes on in stores is the one thing I really detested - and still do. Basically, I refuse to do it, and simply try it on at home. ;D

      It works.

    3. I wish that'd work for me... My mom insists upon me trying on the clothes :)

  3. Ha! I think we all have... "issues" with shopping when we are teens, Trinka. Thankfully, I wasn't like most high-school girls in that I was super "difficult," but sometimes once I got the item home, it was like, "yeah, I am not liking this top."

    We [I] missed you around here, girl! I am so looking forward to that return. =) Glad you had a great visit with your family. That is what matters in life.

    1. oooh, I'm like that. My mom hates to go clothes shopping with me because I'm terrible at choosing clothes that I'll actually wear :P

  5. I feel the same way about malls and shopping for clothes! I try to escape it as often as I can, and not really because I'm shy (I can't say that I am; more like a mix between an introvert and an extrovert, but if I know you, you can't stop me from talking. ;), because I just hate looking at/trying on clothes & loud music of the kind I don't like.
    Swimwear? Oh, we're definitely twins. I can't seem to find a swimsuit modest enough this year! I usually get a women's one-piece and gym shorts, but I've already explored several stores (boy's swimsuits. been there, done that ;P) and there's nothing I like (my mom is starting to get kinda annoyed with my high swimwear standards too).
    Wow. I wonder why I never thought of looking at board shorts. Thank-you SO much for the idea! ;)

    1. I'm truly amazed at all the people I've "met" who have the same swimwear standards! :) For me, I usually have to get a really long tankini top {because I have a really long torso :P}along with bikini bottoms and my board shorts.
      Glad I could help you! ;)

  6. BELK! (I think ;) Those stores do look... scary and... not welcoming ... I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! I am making my own (probobly) swim suit this year, it will be a tank top and a skirt (it will be cute!!!)

    1. I don't mind going into bright and open stores...but that one... :P
      That is really cool that you're making your own swimsuit! I'm not at all talented in the sewing area and so I'm pretty much in awe of the people who can sew :)

  7. OK, you just need to know, I am inwardly squealing (b/c there's no way I would squeal out loud...with 3 brothers, you just can't squeal all too much. they would look at me like i'm a hamster or something) with a whole bunch of excitement because there is finally someone else with the same swimsuit standards as me!! :D I used to swim in a 1-piece bathing suit (as little as possible), often with some kind of shorts on, but now I really don't want to wear just a 1 piece anymore. I haven't been able to find any board shorts long enough to be completely comfortable in (got one about mid-thigh and used it a couple of times; it wasn't great but it covered up more than nothing). I'm thinking about getting these from here - they're the longest ones I've found so far:

    But that means I can't try them on, which kinda stinks.

    Anyway...sorry for this long comment. Oh, and I feel for you about your mall experience. :P I've been in Hollister once, and the thing that I noticed the most was that it smelled like someone had dumped strong cologne all over the carpet - that, and the afore-mentioned fact that the lights are low and the sound is high. I was w/ a group of girls, and we actually lost one them for a couple of minutes in that maze of dark rooms (at least, that's how it was at the mall I went to).

    Well, I'm off to click that follow button up there! ;)

    Love and blessings,

    1. This comment made me smile :) ...And I'm still smiling!
      My mom and I weren't able to find any actual board shorts that fit my standards, so I just got a pair of running shorts. They'll work. I guess the only place I could find long enough board shorts is at a surf shop like near the beach. :P
      I like those shorts! I've never actually seen any like that...
      It does stink when you can't make sure they fit but...I'm mostly ok with it since it gets me out of having to try it on ;)
      Thanks so much for the long comment {I love them!}
      And thanks for following my blog! <3

  8. I don't mind going to the mall, I love the chance to go into Bath and Body Works and get a pretzel from Auntie Annes, but that's pretty much it. I REFUSE to let my mom or anyone else drag me into stores like Hollister or Abercrombie. I probably sound silly, but Target is honestly my favorite store to look for clothes in. It's affordable, there's not a ton of people around to annoy me while I shop, and they have some pretty cute stuff :)

    1. LYSS!!!!!! I blame you ;) I am now craving Auntie Anne's. Again. But going to Bath and Body works is definitely one of my favorite things to do at the mall :)
      Target is pretty awesome, I love how cheap most of the clothes are! :)
