of yeast and making a difference

 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. ~Galatians 5:7-10 {NIV}

I don't know about you guys, but I really like the books that Paul authored {though of course God gave him the words} :) They are so filled with practical wisdom that I can't help but understand!
All through the Bible, yeast is used as an example of "sin" {that's one reason the Jews made only unleavened bread in the Old Testament}
So, have you ever considered that those seemingly "little" things you do can make a big difference?
Like, for example, You tell your mom one leeeeetle's not going to make much difference, right? {wrong!} Or even something that isn't inherently wrong but something you know will lead to sin, even something as simple as sitting next to a {*ahem* very handsome} guy in youth group. ;)
Though, the same thing goes for good things :)
Like, holding open the door for that elderly couple at the grocery store...or smiling at that new girl...or {and I can attest to this, seriously, it used to make my entire day} smiling at little girls when you catch them looking at you :)
Those little things can make a HUGE difference! Just like a little bit of yeast can leaven an entire loaf of bread, just a little bit of sin can turn you away from God, and in the same way, one little nice thing can make someone else's day! :)

PS: Happy Leap Day everyone! {do something awesome!}

  1. That is so true! Little things can have BIG results. :) Lovely post! It sure doesn't seem like your brain is empty post wise. ;) (Like you said in your last post... lol)

    Thank you for sharing, Trinka!

    1. Aww, thank you for such a sweet comment! And, last night as I was doing my bible reading I decided to post on this...haha, God can fix everything...including writer's block!

  2. LOVED this! Thanks for sharing, beautiful!

  3. I love to smile at little girls when they are looking at me! ahem do you sit next to the very handsome boy at youth group? ;)

    1. Haha! NO! I do NOT sit next to the "very handsome guy" in youth group! :) 1. it's rather small, so everybody would notice. 2. we have this sort of "guys" side and "girls" side...when a guy crosses it and sits on our side, we tease him till he returns to his proper place. :) 3. my parents are the youth group leaders...{the last time the "cute guy" sat next to me, *quite against our wills I assure you* my dad said something rather embarrassing to him :O and 4. he's sort like my brother :) And Yeah, I remember those times when I was a little girl and I would be staring at this oh-so-pretty and seemingly princess-like "big girl" and she smiled at me <3 Oh, wow...this is a long reply :)

    2. I my youth group there is a girl side and a guy side. It doesn't have to be that way, but most of the times the guys want to sit with their friends and the girls want to sit with their friends.

      Great post, Trinka!

    3. Yup, same thing with ours!

    4. :) That is funny, Trinka! Well... I am not in youth even though I am of age. We don't really do the youth class (just a family thing take no offense!) Anyway a boy sitting by you (against your wills) reminded me of when someone had a crush on me. I was like 9 and this boy, Noah, by BFFs cousin had a BIG crush on me (and I DID NOT really like him). So any way we were having a movie at church and he spilled his coke. I went over to help them clean up. So I go sit down a little while later he comes and sits by me. Then he scoots his chair closer to me. Then he holds my hand when I reach down to get my coke (remember I am 9 and he is 8. Then he asks my Daddy if he can marry me. Daddy said he was too young so he asked if 18 was old enough. Anyway something else happened one Sunday but just thought I would tell you the story. ;)

  4. i love smiling at little girls when they're looking at me! it makes me feel... oh, i don't know how to explain it. it just feels right. great post =D
